Ancascocha Trek Itinerary:
DAY 1. Cusco - Mollepata - Soraypampa.
The ancasqocha hike starts with early departure from Cusco, our
departure is around 5.30 am, on the way we pass by Izcuchaca and Limatambo
local villages, after 2 hours drive we arrive to Mollepata last town
to buy things needed for the hike. After a quick breakfast we start our walk
ascending and passing through native forest up to Sayllapata
"lunch spot". After brief the hike continues
between green and beautiful landscapes. The firs ancascocha
trek camp is at Soraypampa which is kind of highland valley. it's
important to mention that in ancascocha hike all our camp sites are
very cold at nights.
DAY 2. Soraypampa - Chachaniq´asa.
ancascocha hike / ancasqocha trek hardest day. Soon after breakfast, with muleteers and safety horses we
start the long hike, from about 1 hour hike we take a
non much used trail from this place we’ll walk by four
hours approximately towards the high step way of our
ancascocha. Taking the
right flank of the valley we will arrive at Inkachiriaska
pass at 5100m.m.a.s.l., from this point we can over view the
amazing landscapes of the area, such the closely impetuous
snow-capped Salkantay known as the sacred mountain since
ancient times, passing this place we will take the proper
ancascocha trail first we get Toqtoqasa by a easy down hill trail, then we continue by
narrow and straw covered trail, this takes approximately
four hours to the camp site at 3900m.a.s.l.

DAY 3. Chachaniq´asa. - Occoruro.
- After early breakfast we will reinitiate our beautiful walk, appreciating the beautiful landscapes on
this part of ancasqocha trek, ancasqocha hike this day the trail offers its beauty,
landscape seen only in the southern Peruvian Andes, and ancasqocha trek of curse. All the journey is
about 7 hours walk. In the trail we may observe the flight
of condors, eagles and many Andean animals; our camp site
is really quiet and cosy, surrounded by landscapes of dream
at 3600m.s.n.m.
DAY 4. Occoruro - Ancascocha.
In the morning of this day we can pass by a nice reddish
sandy mountain called Accoqasa, to get this point is needed
approximately 3 hours of good energy.
From the top with help
of binocular we will appreciate the famous Inca trail which
leads to Machu picchu that, mountain glaciers are seen in
this day of ancascocha hike, mountains such as Salkantay,
Humantay, Huayanay and at distance we can observe Huacaywillka (Sacred Tears),
also a small archaeological site called Inka-raqay, closer to this we can take a brief stop,
beautiful landscape, small
lakes which shelters typical
birds of this regions such Huallatas, ducks and many others
which migrates from different places are seen in this
highland. After lunch we walk by an easy trail until Ancasqocha Lagoon at 3700m.a.s.l.

ancascocha trek). where
we set up out camp.

DAY 5. Ancascocha - Chillaca.
– we consider ancascocha hike / ancasqocha trek easy
section. After a nutritious breakfast we will walk just down hill
by 5 hours approximately to get Chillka, place where our trail ends. But
before this we will pass by small villages observing Andean
valleys with its typical vegetation trees such as chachacoma,
qewña, some orchids, begonias, and bromeliads that adorn
the landscape. At the end of the we will have our lunch
then drive back to Cusco arriving in the afternoon, where
our . ancascocha hike / ancascocha trek ends.

A backpack with a change of clothes for the whole period of the
trek.
Rain gear (jacket and pants if available) or rain poncho.
Waterproof trekking boots recommended.
Warm clothes, including jacket, fleeces. Thermal clothing’s are
also recommended.
Sleeping bag (it can be hired at our agency).
Flashlight and batteries.
Camera, films and batteries (batteries consume more quickly
under cold conditions).
Hat or cap to protect you from the sun, rain and cold.
Sun block cream, - After-sun cream or hydrating cream for face
and body.
Insect repellent – minimum recommended 20% deet – no malaria
risk has been reported.
Toilet paper.
Snacks: biscuits, energy bars, chocolate, raw fruits, muesli,
etc. Please beware that we do provide a daily morning snack and
our meal service is very complete and well supplied. This
recommendation applies for all clients being used to a specific
snack, as it may happen that it is not included in our
selection.
Non-disposable canteen and water for the first morning.
Optionally: water sterilizing tablets in case you pick up water
from streams or rivers along the route. Otherwise, we provide
filtered boiled water, which is safe to drink and has not
reported any health problem so far.
Small towel.
Optional: walking sticks or poles (rubber covers required in
order not to damage the Trail).
