The ausangate mountain

Ausangate mountain hike
itinerary:
Day 1: Cusco –
The
ausangate mountain
trek / ausangate mountain circuit,
starts with transfer from
hotel to bus stop, and depart to
Tinqui by bus and travel about six hours to reach the small
Andean village of Tinqui. Driving through beautiful
countryside, we pass several villages including Urcos,
Ccatcca, and Ocongate finally we will arrive to Tinqui, and stop
forlunch. After lunch we will trek crossing grassy meadows
below the jagged stone flanks of Ausangate Mountain 6,350
m.a.s.l.

approximately five hours, we arrive to Upis. the

of hike.
Day 2: Upis – Arapa Pass - Jatun Pucacocha. After early and nutritious breakfast, we
continuo with our ausangate mountain hike, this day we walk to cross our
first pass, (arapa pass). Beautiful landscapes are seen
along the way and further-on we climb a rock-strewn area,
throughout all the passage we will see the majestic
Ausangate. Finally we arrive to the pass; from
where we enjoy wonderful views, we continue down hill, one
of the caracteristics of

lagoons such as the larger Yanacocha lake (black lake)
where we have our lunch, then continue our

Day 3: Jatun Pucacocha - Palomani Pass -
Uchuy Finaya.
This day our
ausangate mountain
trek / ausangate mountain circuit seems more expectacular. In the morning,
we make a short ascent to our second pass of Apacheta,
(4,850 mt. 15,908 ft ) then down hill until Laguna Ausangate
cocha, and stop for lunch. After lunch we need to limb up to the highest point
of the
ausangate mountain

"Palomani Pass", point where we enjoy
fantastic views of Ausangate range. After approximately 2 hours of walking down into
a valley, we arrive to our incredibly beautiful campsite at
Uchuy Finaya.

Day
4: Uchuy Finaya / Qampa Pass (5050 mt, 16,564 ft.) / Qomercocha.- We depart early morning to climb for two
hours towards the third mountain pass, the Abra de Palomani
(5200m/17056ft). This is the highest part of the entire hike,
from which we then descend for another 2hrs, along the
ausangate mountain

we may see llamas, alpacas, Vizcachas and reach Pampacancha
(4050m / 13284 ft). Then we follow an uphill trail until
campsite in Q´ampa (4300m/14104ft) Along this easy 3-hour
climb we may have the chance to spot llamas, alpacas, and
maybe even pumas. We will camp and dine at this place.
Day 5: Q´ampa - Pacchanta. We climb for 2 hours until we reach Q´ampa mountain pass
(5000m/16400ft), where we may have the chance to spot the
Andean deer.
From here we descend towards the Qomerqocha
lagoon to finally arrive at Pacchanta (4100m/13448ft) after
an approximated five-hour walk. Pacchanta is a little
community with attractive hot springs where we can enjoy a
relaxing dip. We camp and spend the night at this place.
Day 6:
Pacchanta to Arnaqocha.

We leave Pacchanta and
take an trail than no other companies hike. we
start with gradual uphill towards Maranpaqui pass and
descend to the village of Maranpaqui where is possible to
observe kids running in their typical clothes, then we hike
by a narrow valley up to the button of the Arnaqocha where
we lunch and camp.
Day
7th: Arnaqocha - singrinaqocha cocha- Qochasiki.- We hike
towards Arnaqocha observing lamas herders, after pass we
walk down hill up to the turquoise lake of Singrina cocha. We
cross Arnaqocha Pass 14,600 ft. along this section of
ausangate mountain
trek / ausangate mountain circuit we have opportunity to see
colorful lakes, Vicuñas,
llamas and alpaca. We will lunch at the singrinaqocha lake,
after lunch we can take an easy hour walk to qochasik and
camp.
Day
8th: Qochasiki Mallma Cusco: Hike down the
valley of Singrina Qocha lake for three hours, and on to
Mallma. Our bus will be waiting there to transfer us to
Cusco where our
ausangate mountain
trek / ausangate mountain circuit,
ends.
