Disabled Travelers:
As with most undeveloped countries,
facilities for the disabled travellers are are being improved.
Wheelchair ramps are luxury and getting a wheelchair into
bathroom or toilets is well nigh impossible, except for some of the
more up market hotels, the entrance to many cheap hotels is up
a narrow flight of stairs. Visually and hearing-impared travellers
are similarly poorly catered for as a rule, but we have experienced
guides who can provide tours with individual attention. The Ministerio de la mujer y Desarollo
Social (Ministry for Women and Social Development) has incorporated
a Consejo Nacional de Integracion de la Persona copn Discapacidad,
CONAIS (National Council for the Integration of Disabled People, www.conadisperu.gob.pe
inm spanish. CONADIS, together with PromPeru, and Kéroul of Québec,
has been involved in a project called Peru: towards an accessible
tourism and the first report on accessibility in peru for tourists
with disabilities are been inproved, but considering thatb places
such as Machu Picchu and Chan Chán, being World Heritage sites, may
not be altered for accessibility althought the latter, apart from
soft sand in places, is almost entirely accessible. Specially
trained personnel, however can provide assistance to those with
disabilities.
Travelling with children:
Travel with children can bring you into closer contact with local
families and, generally, presents no special problems - in fact the
path is often smoother for family groups. Official tend to be more
amenable where children are concerned and thety are pleased if your
child knows a litle spanish. Getting in group involves a lot of time
waiting for buses, train and especially for airplanes. You should
take reading material with you. Train travel is limited to Cusco -
Machu Picchu, Cusco -puno, and huancavelica, the Perurail services in
the cusco region is medium confortable, with tables between
seats if being expensive class while the back paker class is lack of
good service. On all long -distance buses you pay for each seat, and
there are no half fares if the children occupy a seat each. For
shorter trips it is cheaper, if less confortable, to seat small
children on your knee.
Women Travellers:
Generally women travellers should find visiting peru an enjoable
experience. however, machismo is not something that you should
really care, but you should be prepared if it happens nad try not to
over react. when you set out erron the sideof caution until your
instincts have adjusted to the customs of a new culture.
Gay & Lesbian Travellers:
The scene is not very active here. This does not imply, however,
there is not much hostily towards gay and lesbian travelers. As a
major tourist center which welcomes a huge variety of visitors,
cuzco is more open than anywhere else in Peru.
Travel
Trust
whom to trust?? there are so many
companies offering same tours and programs, and only in cusco we
have nearby 1000 travel agencies. there are some tips about
it. big company on small company?.
Big companies sually charges more for
their services, depending on which tour, it may vary from 100 up to
2000 dollars, and they manage big groups and no time for personal
service!!.
While small companies manage small groups
where you can receive personalized service and the price will be
economic. where small company!!..
There is also 3rd group of companies
named pull service operators, these companies tend to mix groups
form different companies everyone pays different amount of money and
receive same service, the service is usually lack of
quality such as non english speaking tour guides, even at office
there is not fluent english speaking officers which takes in to
miss-understandings about it.
Avoid those vendors at the airport, they
are not operators they are only travel agents who never care about
the service, the price you pay usually is over charged, they work
together with the pull service operator companyes, remember that
some dollars can make difference between nice and worst experience .
