river rafting in cusco
Itinerary:
At
9:00 AM we leave for the Urubamba River in the Sacred Valley of the
Incas (north of Cusco), where our guide will give us an introductory
chat on safety and equipment for our trip running the Urubamba. We
will raft for around 2 ½ hours in Class II,III.IV+ and V rapids,
depending on which route we select.
We
could be on Huambutio,
Class II, Ollantaytambo,
Class III (We run it from May to December), Quiquijana IV
and V (Dec to May). For the last one, which is the hardest, we
always take a safety kayak with us, so it means one extra guide for
the safety of our clients.
After lunch we return to Cusco, arriving at around 5:00 PM.
The
rainy season is a really good time to go rafting because the river
gets faster and the waves and other hydraulics are larger.
The rainy season
lasts from December to April

WHITE WATER RIVER RAFTING (APURIMAC CANYON 3Days 2Nights
This exciting whitewater rafting expedition is rated among the 10
best Rafting trips of world . We start the trip from Cusco 3,400 m.a.s.l.
driving for 4 hours across the Andes down to the apurimac river
canyon ( in the native quechua language meaning “ Speaker of the
Gods “ ). This river is also the most direct source of the Amazon
making it the longest river in the world .We put-in at 2,000 m.a.s.l. It
will take us about two hours to prepare all the equipment using only
state of the art self bailing rafts and catarafts.
We'll have lunch
and raft down to our first camp. All the meals are prepared by our
staff on a campfire under the night sky of the Southern Hemisphere. At one point we
arrive to a narrow canyon with an impossible rapid where we have to
do a portage for about 300m.a.s.l. This means that we will have to
carry everything across. Most of the time
we will be rafting class III+ and IV rapids , but we also have a few
class IV + and V rapids. Among the wildlife , in this
remote and isolated canyon we could find river otters, bob cats,
foxes, torrent ducks, cormorants etc.
