Salkantay to Machu Picchu hike Itinerary:
Day
01: Cusco - Soraypampa. the Salcantay trek,
salkantay hike
programs starts with the transfer from your hotel in
cusco. It starts at
05:00 by bus, and drive to Mollepata. By approximately 2
hours and a half drive. After
breakfast we will start the ascent walking towards
Cruzpata (3200 masl) along a slight climb there is appreciated various plants, native birds, and
a communitarian irrigation canal. Sayllapata
is the place for lunch, after
lunch we depart around 2:00 p.m in
the direction to Soraypampa by a climbing trail with

Day 02:
Soraypampa - Collpapampa. After an early
breakfast
we start trekking from Soraypampa approx 7:30 a.m we
continue our hiking the Peruvian highland. From this point we
can appreciate the spectacular views of the Mountain
Salkantay, a stunning snow capped mountain (6,264 m) the
second highest peak in Cusco’s region, this is the principal
reason why our trek is named salkantay hike and salkantay
trek. At this area also are seen snow cap mounts, white
water river, small lakes
and moraines. at this site also we get the highest point of
the salkantay to machu picchu tour. After the high point we
start dowhill walk for lunch to Huayracpampa, then 4 hours downhill walk leads to the camp ground at collpa pampa 2,980 m.

Day 03:
Collpapampa - Santa Teresa. This is another
interesting part of the salkantay hike; an early wake up
waits, the escenery shows a lovely
mountains with lush forest. It starts around 07:00 AM. 3 hours easy hiking to Lluscamayu, where we
will be introduced to the high Jungle, in this part of the
salkantay hike we will see different kind of plants, fruits,
flowers, birds , banana trees,
coffe and others can be observed, with luck we can observe the famous Peruvian National Bird
"Gallito de las Rocas" stop at ", the

our lunch.
from here we will take a truck by aproximately 45
minutes to Santa Teresa village (optiomal

Day 04:
Santa Teresa - Aguas Calientes. After breakfast, we

at around 8:30 a.m if we deside walking we´ll pass by Colpani village, we
follow this rising trail, where we will see coffe plantations, banana, passion fruit,
etc. If we take the option to drive we catch a small truck
which can take us
until Hidroelectrica (25 minutes), from this place we can
observe the back of Machupicchu, the
last lunch with all staff is at this point. From here we will walk until Aguas Calientes around 4:30 p.m
. Dinner and over night in a hostal (private bath and hot
shower). it can be full day walk or half day walk of the
salkantay hike, salkantay trek.
Day 05:
Aguas Calientes - Machupicchu. wake up at around
4.30 am and bus ride to machu picchu (no more salkantay trek).

we take the train back to Cusco city.
