This is a unique expedition, off the beaten path into the Vilcabamba range, visiting the last Capital of the Incas during the spanish invation. This area has a tremendous scenic variety, with snow-capped mountains and a high jungle. in vilcabamba There are many archaeological sites to visit such as; Ñusta Hispana, a classic ceremonial plaza lined with massive Inca stone work. vilcabamba to espiritu pampa Trip Itinerary:

Day 01: Cusco - Chaullay – Huancacalle.- We start with transfer from your hotel up in order to drive in private bus until Wancacalle, passing for the locations of Ollantaytambo, the Malaga mountain pass (4,200 m.s.n.m.), entering toward the valley of Huyro and Maranura. Then from the location of Chaullay we went toward Wankakalli to where we arrive in the afternoon; camp.

 

Day 02: Huancacalle - Vitcos - Ñusta Hisp´ana – Qollpaq´asa.- We undertake the walk toward the archaeological center of Rosaspata or Vitcos, from the domain of the hill Pucyura, as well as from the snowy Pumasillo peak, we could appreciate Ñusta Hisp'anan stone, In both places we enjoy a panoramic view of the landscape. Then we went toward Qollpaq'asa camp.

 

Day 03: Qollpaq´asa – Ututo.- We went toward the zone of Maukachaka. We continued passing by Pampaconas, going down toward Ututo where we will camp, we will have the opportunity of fishing.

 

Day 04: Ututo - Vista Aalegre.- The journey is down hill, after one hour we appreciate vegetation of cloud forest, whose climate is template-hot, and we will appreciate the Pampaconas river, we will eat lunch on the river shore, after a rest, the walk is continued until we arrive to the place called Vista Alegre (Happy View), where we will camp.

 

 

DAY 05: Vista Alegre – Concevidayoc

.- After the breakfast, we entered to the valley of Vilcabamba, quite warm, we arrive to Q'asa Cross, a favorite place, where we will appreciate abundant flora and fauna, for example the Cockerel of the Rocks, arriving to Tunkimayu, in order to direct us toward Concebidayoc.

 

DAY 06: Concevidayoc- Espiritu Pampa – Chihuankiri.- We went to the East, toward the Pampaconas River, that will drive us to Espiritu Pampa, also considered like natural vantage point, you will appreciate the portion of the plateu which are formed bythe triangle between the Pampaconas River, Chomtabamba and the base of the mountain of the archaeological group of Espiritu Pampa. We will appreciate Inca terraces,  After a guided visit, we continued our walk until Chihuankiri.

 

DAY 07: Chihuankiri - Kiteni – Cusco.- Our journey of this day is by a terrestrial road, in a bus toward the Kiteni town, Quillabamba, and finally we arrive cusco late at night and transfer to your hotel. end of the vilcabamba to espiritu pampa hike

  • Flashlight and batteries

  • Camera, films and batteries (batteries consume more quickly under cold conditions)

  • Hat or cap to protect you from the sun, rain or cold

  • Sun block

  • Insect repellent

  • Toilet paper

  • Snacks: biscuits, energy bars, chocolate, etc.

  • Water bottle and sterilizing tablets (ie. Micropur)

  • Small towel

  • Swimsuit (if you intend to go to the hot springs)
